Smart Data is a new technology that will soon help all of us switch & find better deals for our mortgages, pensions, energy suppliers and lots else more cheaply, quickly & easily than today. Plus it ought to make Government & public services faster, more flexible & more efficient (& therefore smaller & cheaper) too.
John spoke about who will win the race to deliver Smart Data at this year’s Open Banking Expo at the Business Design Centre in London, alongside banks, regulators, fintechs and payments leaders.
He pointed out that – at the moment – Government has to sign off a regulator approval for each industry before startups & entrepreneurs can bring the Smart Data benefits of cheaper deals & better services to you or me. But Government sign-offs are so slow that other countries are moving faster, which means the race to create startup firms & new-economy jobs could easily be won by companies based abroad instead of here.
John also made the Open Banking Expo All Stars deck (here’s his card) & said: ‘I’m not entirely sure about my scores… but I’ll take them’.
